Hi and happy Tuesday!
Reminders
Per usual, please check out the intro here if you haven’t already, and don’t forget about my resources for PR professionals :)
EOD for me means 11:59pm, but the earlier the better!
Please let me know if you’re interested in helping with the stories below and share your credentials/experience in that email. If I have a spot open for you, I’ll let you know. That’s when I ask you to answer the questions!
Story: “The 1 Thing An Addiction Expert Will Never Do”
Publication: HuffPost
Sources needed: Therapists or other experts who specialize in addiction (ideally who also work in an addiction center)
Deadline to answer questions: Thursday, Sept. 12, EOD
Questions:
Name, credentials, link to bio page
Please share the one thing you’ll never do as an addiction expert (Use a certain term? Not speak up when you’re worried about a friend? Try a certain substance? Something else?) & explain why in at least a few sentences.
What are some things you implement in your life more now that you work with people who have struggled with addiction?
Story: “We Have Experienced Addiction. This Is The 1 Thing We Want People To Know.”
Publication: HuffPost
Sources needed: People who have experienced addiction and don’t mind sharing a bit of their story
Deadline to answer questions: Monday, Sept. 16, EOD
Note to keep in mind when answering: I'm hoping this can bust some common, harmful myths & be a resource for people who may not realize they're in the thick of addiction or headed towards it. At the same time, I think whatever you have to share is valuable and your individual insight is what I want to know!
Questions:
Name, age/location/job (whichever you’re comfortable with!), and a link to your social media or website, if you’d like it linked in the story
What is the one main thing you want people who have never experienced addiction (or don’t realize it yet) to know?
If not explained above, why do you want people to know that? What happened in your life (to the extent you’re comfortable sharing) that sharing made that piece of information important to you?
Story: “5 'Positive' Traits That Are Secretly Anxiety In Disguise”
Publication: HuffPost
Sources needed: Therapists who specialize in anxiety
Deadline to answer questions: Monday, Sept. 23, EOD
Questions:
Name, credentials, link to bio page
Please (A) share 3-4 “positive” traits that are secretly anxiety in disguise. (If you can’t come up with 4, we have a couple!)
(B) For each, please provide a few sentences on how/why it’s a sign
(C) and (for each), what you advise people to do instead when they’re tempted to engage in that behavior or notice themselves doing it.
Story: “So THAT’s Why I Need Noise To Fall Asleep”
Publication: HuffPost
Sources needed: Sleep doctors/experts
Deadline to answer questions: Friday, Sept. 27, EOD
Questions:
Name, credentials, link to bio page
Why do some people need noise (TV, YouTube, white noise, air conditioner, music, etc) to help them fall asleep? (Anxiety? ADHD? Something else?)
Does falling asleep to noise help or hurt someone’s sleep, and how? If it depends on the type of noise (ex: white noise helps, TV hurts?), please clarify for each.
What do you recommend people do? (No noise? Only certain kinds of noise? A certain level of noise? Etc)
Thanks as always! :)
Ashley
